Thanks for taking a moment to stop and look! Before you think "Great, another club that shouldn't be here," take a moment to read about our group - I think you'll find it's different from others in subtle ways and VERY much useful for fellow Fantasy Artist deviants here at Deviant Art.

Our Purpose
The intent of this group is to feature good fantasy art featuring some of the more overlooked aspects of the genre - the creatures themselves! There are loads of art with maidens, princesses, knights, etc as the main focus, but what about the unicorn, the hippocampus or the hydra? After all, in many ways it's our writing and art that keeps these creatures alive.

This group IS NOT simply for highlighting members' art. As the rules below will illustrate, getting the artwork done be members here will be more complicated than that of random deviants. In this way, we are helping the WHOLE community by commenting on and ing art that truly deserves it.

Group Rules
You have to like fantasy art of all kinds. No "I like all fantasy art except anime-style" or "I don't like fantasy art with unicorns" or anything of the like.

You DON'T have to be an artist yourself. You just have to be a DeviantArt member so that you can comment on art.

Members must check back in the group frequently to view and comment on new additions to the favorites list - that's the whole point of this group.

You DO NOT have to put our icon in your sig or journal, but it is appreciated.

No spamming of or about this group from any members - that's what got people hating groups in the first place.

How to Recommend Art for Favorites
First, make sure the piece meets the following requirements:
The focus of the piece is a non-human.
The focus of the piece is NOT a sci-fi creature or a "modern" television creation.
If the type of creature is not certain and it's not stated in the image description, contact the artist to be sure it is indeed a fantasy creature.
The image is here on DeviantArt, not another site.
If the image belongs to YOU, make sure it meets the special requirements for "Member Art" as listed below.
If the image is FAN ART, make sure it meets the special requirements for "Fan Art" as listed below.

Second, you must comment on the artwork YOURSELF before submitting it to the group. That's the point of this group - to give the artists the feedback they deserve.

Third, NOTE the group with a link to the image and why you think it should be added to the favorites.

Special Requirements for Member Art
If you would like to submit a piece that BELONGS TO YOU for the favorites section, it must already have at least one comment from a NON-MEMBER in order to qualify. This indicates that a significant number of deviants are already viewing and enjoying your art, and that it is not simply being added to get comments and . Bullshit comments like "heh, cool" from a friend of yours won't cut it either - I will be checking each piece submitted.

Special Requirements for Fan Art
We WILL accept fan art for fantasy series such as "Harry Potter", "The Lord of the Rings", "Artemis Fowl", etc on one condition. It MUST -MUST- be SPECTACULAR art. Since the "quality" of art is "in the eye of the beholder", it will be looked at by at least three people before it is accepted to see if it qualifies. There are PLENTY of other groups for specific fandoms if you just want fan art of a series.
